Film and music

After reading some of the discussions here, I've been wondering how many musicians end up in movies or TV programmes, either as bit parts or full-blown characters. I saw that bit with Pete in Oz the other day, and I know Tom Waits has often had guest appearances. Marilyn Manson's done a few appearing in not only films (one opposite the rather delicious Asia Argento) but also in other music videos and short films. Trent Reznor appeared in a Bowie video a while back but now I seem to have gone blank as to any other notable appearances.

Just thought this would be an interesting topic to put out there. Do you have any notable catches?

Thanks for that, Mike. I just remembered Iggy Pop played in The Crow: City of Angels. Not a great film but Iggy's performance was definitely memorable. I daresay he stole the show.

Maynard in Blood into Wine (wine documentary). I know, duh, but I LOVED getting to know that part of him that isn't up on stage. He's a very cool person through and through.

Dave Mustaine appeared once in The Drew Carey Show. he was trying out for Drew's band.

Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top has been on the show Bones a few times.

Dave Matthew's did an episode of House. Which he was outstanding in.

Oh yeah! Henry Rollins played the cop in "The Chase." It had Charlie Sheen in it as a kidnapper. Also Flea and Anthony Kiedis as rednecks in a monster truck.

Flea was also in Back to the Future 2 and 3.

Dave Matthews have been in a couple of Adam Sandler flicks.

Rollins was also in Wrong Turn 2

Glenn Danzig was invited to try out for the part of the Wolverine in the X-men movies, but obviously didnt get it. that would have been a much better and dark film.

 

Rollins was also in the Jackass films, The New Guy, Jack Frost, Lost Highway

Joan Jett has been in a few films --Light of Day and Boogie Boy. She was also on Highlander a while back.

I saw Steven Tyler on Two and a Half Men as himself.

I am sort of drawing a blank--those are the only two I can think of off the top of my head right now.

EDIT: I forgot to scroll down and did not see that others replied. Rollins was also on the second season of Sons of Anarchy.

And you may not have had reality shows in mind when you asked us--but of course, there was Bret Michaels with his Rock of Love shows, Perry Ferrell on Married to Rock, etc.

Peter STeele was suppose to be on that reality show The Surreal Life awhile back but it didnt pan out.

He was also supposedly in a vampire movie... Can't remember the name save that I don't think they completed filming... or something went awry. Damn, he would have made a great vampire. :-(
