Guilty Pleasure?

Look, we love all that is Metal.  I would rather have my eardrums stroked by APHND or Type O than eardrum rapped by Lil Wayne.  But, we all have that one band.  That one band that we owned their cd at one time, and hid it under the drivers seat of our car so no one would find it!  Own up, people!  I'll be the first one to admit it;

this is a cool post......i have to say that i am sure that metal fans would snicker at this but i also like Elton John alot and i have seen him twice, once in Toronto and the other in Vegas. thats right i specifically flew down to see his show and i dont care who laughs.

Wow.  You flew from Toronto to Vegas just for Elton John?  That sir, is dedication!  LOL!

 

Last year I was in a cover band that played a mix of just about everything.  We did a punk version of Tiny Dancer / Rocketman.  It was a crowd favorite, so Elton is a great example of a guilty pleasure.

I'll admit I have more than a mere hankerin' for music that sounds like it would be coming out of a dance club. You know, the stuff that goes "OOOOnst, OOOOnst,OOOOnst,OOOOnst,OOOOnst,OOOOnst,OOOOst." I'm not much for running, jogging, or any other kind of athletic activity so dance-y electronic music gets me up and engaging in some aerobic activity.

i still also love all those classic 80s metal bands from Scorpions to Cinderalla to Quiet Riot, if anything from the 80s is on the radio i do turn it up.

Pet Shop Boys. Um, Never owned the "CD" but had the record Neil Diamond. I was nuts about Debbie Gibson and some really bad female vocalist named just "Sylvia" as a kid.

I  will listen to just a hand full of Bon Jovi, but I will grant you the Italian edge on that one, Johnny! 

 

MoGo, before I was done reading your post, I was thinking "She must be a jogger or track runner."  Then you just shot yourself in the foot! LOL!  But in all honesty, I will admit that when I do venture out to the club, I find myself bobbing my head and using my Shazam app to tag certain songs that have teh OOOnst, OOOnst, OOOnst in it.  By the way, that's the most accurate text description of a sound I've ever seen.   I'm going to put that on my FB now.  OOOnst, OOOnst, OOOnst!

 

Mike, I'm half and half on the 80's stuff, and only because VH1 has killed that decade for me.  I was born in '82 with an older brother and sister.  I know my 80's music.  Then, VH1 comes along with "I Love The 80's" and plays all the crap that came out in that decade.  All the best bands of that era never make it to the list, and all the ones I wish would be caught in a bus fire full of nuns end up on top of the list.  But, that's just my opinion!

I wont lie, I like Kill Hannah. I dont admit this often. Terrible sound quality...but the lead singer is pretty passionate.

Derek, if this thread were a contest, I do believe you might have just won with that one!  I've heard of that band, but I guess I've never actually spent the time to listen to them.  Now I'm going to have that song stuck in my head all day!
