Before entering the heart of the matter, presenting the artist. APHND is a one-man band consisting of Sal Abruscato (former Type O Negative, Life of Agony), a coproduction with Matt Brown (Seventh Void). The musical style is difficult: sometimes even Doom or Stoner Alternative Rock, all with Gothic influences. Each song is unique and this album freshly laid a masterpiece. Described as a baby, Sal wanted to recreate her dark, as can be discovered with the artwork and lyrics for most melancholy. The project name is ripe for reflection on the Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
And Hell Will Follow Me begins with its title track which gradually approached a galloping horse. After a short intro to percussion begins As Black As My Heart us directly permeates this neurotic atmosphere. First impressions are coming. A master of the battery (Sal with thirty years of experience) and voice, a guitar but a little shy with simple but effective riffs, the melody is distinguished mainly by the percussion. The solos are short and rudimentary but still slow. Most are made by guests such as Bobby Hambella (Biohazard). This aspect will remain the same throughout the album.
All songs will slow (To Die In Your Arms, Cracks in the Walls), but some offer a bit more aggressive (Heroin Train, In My Blood Bath). It easily captures the musical world of terror, of madness mixed with great sadness (the album is dedicated to Peter Steele (RIP) Type O Negative). Sal wanted to transcribe his emotions through his compositions following the divorce of his wife, due primarily to the completion of this album.
Bad Dream album cut in half through a psychotic mood, shouting tortured blown madness. The result sounds more Stoner Rock, the compounds less personal and mostly on a more upbeat pace.
But it remains the jewel of the album: Die Alone, the last title. For seven minutes the music takes us on an aura of melancholy in which words are more advanced. Happens when the lead guitar melody, it pushes us even more magnificence and listen carefully, you let yourself be rocked, bewitched, possessed. The album is closed with a flourish, the final song is far ahead of other compounds, without a doubt the most elaborate, more beautiful, one where the inspiration was the strongest.
I struggled to chronicle this album. It's not really what I usually listen to music but charmed me. Take a listen to streaming music on these sites below, all three titles on offer are among the best in the album.
